A park ranger stops traffic while Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep cross Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.

There are four herds of bighorns in the park with a total population of roughly 350 sheep. This herd, which roams the area of Sheep Lakes and the mountains north of Horseshoe Park, crosses Fall River Road often in the spring and summer, and can commonly be found in the meadows near Sheep Lakes.
