A storm greeted us at the end of our hike through Sulphur Creek. Most people park near Chimney Rock (the large spire in the left side of this photo) to hike down Sulphur Creek, but we started at the visitor center and hiked up the creek. Capitol Reef isn’t very developed as far as national parks go, so they allow hitchhiking. Park rangers will even pick up hitchhikers. This worked out very well for us. Instead of walking 3 or 4 miles along the road back to the visitor center in a thunderstorm, we were able to catch a ride with a nice tourist from Washington.
