We had planned on photographing slot canyons near Goblin Valley on this day, but at the beginning of that hike I realized that I had left all of my memory cards at home. We did the hike anyway, and then made the 2-hour drive to Moab, stopping at Green River along the way to see if any store there had secure digital cards. They did not. After finding a large capacity card in Moab, we wandered in to Arches National Park and hiked the 1.5 miles to Delicate Arch, arriving just after sunset. As the crowds left, we continued to photograph the arch. It’s quite an impressive 65-foot arch, widely recognized as a symbol for Utah. The 2002 Olympic torch relay went under the arch, which is actually somewhat intriguing when one knows how steep the back side of the arch’s base is.
