I always seem to end up in Aspen trying to get a good sunrise shot of the Maroon Bells while the aspens are changing. The only negative: the bank of Maroon Lake is practically a photography convention in the morning. When I took this shot there were at least 30 photographers lined up next to me. If you want an easy hike to get a closer shot of the Maroon Bells after sunrise, head up to Crater Lake. There might be others up there but it won’t be nearly as crowded.
