This photograph is 11 years in the making. It spans photographic generations.
Let me explain.
It was taken with a Pentax ME-Super manual SLR camera built in 1980, using a similar timeframe SMC Pentax 50mm f1.7 lens (although, I’m not certain which aperture was used for this shot). The film was Kodak Ektachrome E100VS, which was developed in an E6 solution and then processed into a film scanner. The file sat there until recently, when I attempted to run some high dynamic range algorithms on the single image. I used the open-source software Luminance with the Mantiuk and Reinhard algorithms, merging the results in the open-source GIMP, and formed the image seen above.
