The extremely small village of Cuncani is in the valley on the right side of this photo. This wonderful view greeted us while descending to the valley from Huilquijasa Pass. Cuncani lies at 12,303 feet (3750 meters).

Houses similar to the one in the photo are scattered throughout the valley. I can’t help but think that I’ll never have a house as nice as that. My houses will have driveways. They’ll have heating, cooling, running water and all the niceties of civilized living. But they’ll never have that view. They’ll never have anything close to it.
